Acuvue Bifocal Contacts Review
How Do Acuvue Bifocal Lenses Work?
![]() |
With pupil intelligent design, acuvue bifocal contacts enables you to comfortably shift focus between near and distance viewing, under variety of lighting conditions. They provide great lifestyle benefits as well.
Each acuvue bifocal lens is made up of five invisible, concentric rings, or zones. The central distance zone is surrounded by a near ring, another distance ring, a second near ring, and an outer distance ring. The whole concentric rings bring both distant and near objects into focus at the same time.
Here the term "bifocal" is a bit misleading. Accuvue
bifocal contact lens isn't designed the same way as bifocal glasses. You won't find a small segment on the bottom of the lens that you use to read. The lens design is similar to that of a bull’s eye target.
What Acuvue Bifocal Can Do
Accuvue Bifocal lenses are right for you if you're ready to change prescription more frequently than before. That's because presbyopia is a progressive condition that gets worse as you get older.
Once you've been fitted with the lenses, your eyes will probably need some time to adjust. The time varies from person to person. Some people adapt immediately. Other people may need their prescription adjusted slightly before they can adapt.
If successful, Acuvue bifocal can provide
binocular vision. Unlike monovision contact lenses, depth perception is retained because both of your eyes are corrected for near and for distance.
What Acuvue Bifocal Cannot Do
Acuvue bifocal has no intermediate vision correction. To achieve good vision at computer range, your eye doctor may fit you with unequal adds. Your dominant eye might be fit with a + 1.00 or + 1.50 add, and your non-dominant eye might be fit with a higher add.
If you have astigmatism, you may not be a good candidate. Acuview bifocals do not correct astigmatism. They aren't for you if your job related to viewing any type of small print or you have problems with night vision.
So, success with acuvue bifocal contacts depends on your specific eye conditions and your expectations -- vision quality and your lifestyle.
